That’s a very good question, and to be honest, one I’m still trying to answer! In the meantime, however, here’s what I’ve discovered so far:
I’m a ½ Egyptian, ½ Pakistani, Torontonian who’s lived in Toronto my entire life; that’s 24 years (and still going strong)! Toronto is one of the most multicultural cities in the world, and I love it to bits and pieces.
I’ve made quite a few career choice changes. Prior to university, I wanted to become a Psychiatrist (MD). When I started university, I changed my mind and wanted to become a Chartered Accountant. Finally, I decided to go “general” and studied Management. I’ve worked for some of the biggest organizations in the world, and am currently an SAP Consultant for IBM Canada Ltd. I love business analysis and am very crazy about project management. I’m also CAPM, ITIL and SAP certified.
I’ve come to realize that it’s extremely cumbersome trying to be like others or trying to outcompete them. I’ve become quite comfortable being myself and the only person I try to surpass is the man I was yesterday.
Like Oscar Wilde aptly put it:
“Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.”
